David (Carmenghia)'s Story

Life I have 3 daughters and have retired after 20 years as a NYC Police Officer. Retirement is here and now I'm trying to decide what to do when I grow up.. My wife passed away suddenly in 1993 and been busy raising my daughters to the best of my ability. Still play Hockey only now its on Roller Blades w/o hitting. Enjoy watching my youngest girl play volleyball, basketball and softball. She will graduate in 2008 from Pine Bush High School. Still hoping to drive across country. Coach High School volleyball and volunteer as a tracvel volleyball coach and officiate a town league basketball. Became a grandfather 2008 with the birth to my middle daughter Stacey's first daughter Aliya Joan on Nov 1, 2008. College Returned to college for the first time in 30 years in 2003 at St Josephs College in Brooklyn, NY My current age is 53. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be old. I was so completely wrong. If I could do my college years over I'd probably concentrate more on my studies and less on the partying. But then again maybe not because if Idid, I'd might have never met my wife and had my wonderful daughters. My first job was at Alexanders on Queens Blvd in Rego Park, where I got paid $1.25/hr to work in camera dept. What I remember most about it is I didn't know anything about camera's or film which I sold.. The wildest thing I ever did at MLHS was drive my car onto the backyard with about 12 other students sitting all over it and chasing Mr Kohler (the custodian) around the yard. College's wildest thing was streaking from one end of campus to t...Expand for more
he other in 73. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is my wife Joan, because I miss her . 2008 was a great year found Jon Handrock, Bruce Insalco from Martin Luther High School in Maspeth. Then found Roger Crosley, Scott Smalling from SUNY Brockport. Reunited with my New Hyde Park Arrows from the 70's and had a blast. Everyone should try to catch up with teir past it is great to see our friends from our youth in their 50's. I always wanted to be a Police Officer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a bad idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. I listen to the favorite music of my past, the 70's of course. To relax and unwind. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have the hours, and days, I want, and the pay I want to be able to deal with the day-to-day. myself I survived raing three daughters on my own since they were 3, 7 and 8. Without ever finding another woman to help. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the bathrooms and kitchen and add on a garage with a family room above it. My dream home would be a beach house that would be hurrican proof.. that they will all leave you and not even appreciate the amount of time and effort and love that was put in tho raise them. If I won $100 million, I'd give some of it to my daughters, then spend the rest on vacations, summer house and a volleyball center. Dorm living was a blast, Top of the World Production, ran the best parties at Brockport in 77 and 78. Closed the Rat a few nights because of our parties I share my home with two cats, which I find annoying.
